I thought I'd stick a couple of shots up as I go along, for the chariot that I've been working on for a little while, because it's taken ages to finally decide what the beast to draw the chariot will look like. I didn't really want horses pulling the chariot as I saw this an an opportunity to make up a slimy beast of some sort. The body is a Krootox rider piece with the left leg repositioned to get it moving forward. The claws are Genestealers scythes. I cant actually remember whet model the tail came off, it was from a general Nurgly-bitz order from a while ago. The face is Gobbla - Skarsnicks huge Squig that Donald kindly gave me. I thought that it needed bulking up a bit so I gave it a carapace from a Carnifex topped off with an extra spike or two. The greenstuff looks a bit of a mess in the photos but should be smoother by the time I paint it. Next up is the chariot, which over a post-club pint and chat with Donald about it, I've decided to make as covered with Nurglings as possible. I'll get pics up when it starts to take shape.

Very creative use of models. I can't really see were your going with though mate, but if you have had some beer, then it has to be a good idea!!

looking suitably nurgley.... never thought gobbla's head was so big....
Certainly better than a couple of horses... looking forward to seeing it finished!

looking fantastic, love the hooks in the things back, great wee touch, only critisism is the wheels haven't changed much, not sure what you could do, but a little something else might be good. the side of the chariot is amazing

Hmmmm,
not sure if the chariot is big enough? Can you really get another crewman on board? Just judging all my charot comments based upon the new lion thing that the highelfs are getting.

Finally made some progress with this. Changed the front legs then finally got some painting done: The second shot didn't resize very well so it's a little pixelated. There is still a little bit of basing (veg) to do but it's nearly there. There will be a sorcerer added next. For those that are interested in the bits - The body of the beast is a Krootox model from 40K (the ones with the mounted gunner on the top). It's metal so it was a mare to work with. The tail is from the Carnosaur. The carapace is a Tyranid biggie of some sort. After spending ages failing to find a face that worked I went for the new Gobbla model (Skarsniks squig). It makes it a little out of proportion at the front end but I dont mind that - it's just a load of teeth and horns on the charge! Claws and other gribby bits are from the new Spawn model and the new Possessed Chaos Marines. The chariot is partly the basic Chaos chariot with most of the spiky bits chopped off. It has two hafts from the beastman chariot and is fronted by an old Great Unclean One head. Chains and hooks are all just brass rod and chain and the trapped souls in the side of the chariot are just zombie heads.

Another top class conversion Paul lots of claps. Can't wait to see the Nurgle Sorcerer If your Marauders & chariot are anything to go by it will be a top of the range WFB army & with Chaos / Nurgle the sky is the limit on conversions keep up the good work. Hope to see this army on a table this year maybe by SOS

Hope to see this army on a table this year maybe by SOS I think I need to set my self a deadline for this army, otherwise it will just take forever. I don't know if SoS is feasible but it may be. I think I need to set out a painting plan for the next few months and set my self some goals and deadlines.

I think your right about a deadline. What about running the same sort of system in the club that is going on at GW in the Rise of Heroes, where over an 8 week period you set yourself weekly goals or points totals to reach. For example in WFB it is a 250pt total every week which is not much really a unit & commander or a Lord choice at the end of every week bring along your 250pts & play a game with it legal or illegal, then following week bring 500pts and so on. I'm going to try to use this system to build up a 2000pt Vampire army in the 8 week period, then see what happens after that for SOS. It works for 40k players as well for all you out there with those unpainted 40K armies

Nice work Paul, great stuff as ever.
You mention SOS again ( Is there a provisional date for it?)
If that date is too early we're provisionally booked for June 14th for Cry Havoc 2008 if you need to extend that deadline a touch ;D

The chariot looks really cool Paul, looking forward to seeing it at the club. Have you seen some of the Nurgle stuff in the Storm of Chaos book if you are looking for more conversion ideas ? Also how do you manage to take such good photos of your models, I have a fairly good digital camera but any photos I take of models always look blury and terrible.
