I'm in two minds about my War Altar. I built it tall and towering primarily so that it would fit on a chariot base, and now I'm not sure if it just looks a bit ridiculous. I guess that a fiery sermon might well be best delivered from up high, but I would appreciate any honest opinion as I cant decide if this looks cool or stupid!

I think it looks great.
Would be a cool center piece for your empire army and look forward to seeing it painted

I really like it.
the only slight criticism is that the base looks a bit small for it, not to sure about my fantasy rules as far as base's are concerned, but could you make a custom bigger one?

the base looks a bit small for it, not to sure about my fantasy rules as far as base's are concerned, but could you make a custom bigger one? Bigger chariot bases can be an advantage for the charging chariot as they allow attacks into more of the enemy unit. For example, a bigger base might allow me to declare attacks into an enemy character that would otherwise have been out of the combat, off to the edge of the unit. An opposite example is that Chaos Marauders are currently on 25mm bases. They used to be on 20mm bases. 20mm bases would allow you to squeeze more bases into a particular combat than 25mm bases do. For that reason, base size is quite important in WFB and needs to be adhered to. Part of my problem with this model is squeezing it onto a standard chariot base, so not only has it ended up taller rather than wide, but it means that I'll be pretty stuck for options for a nice scenic base too. Still, I'm glad that people like it , so I'll go with this shape. Obviously I'll sort out a chariot haft, and I think I'll embelish it a little more with scrolls and other bits and pieces.

I think the model looks really cool! Are you going to use it as part of your army once you get it painted?

Are you going to use it as part of your army once you get it painted? Either that or a doorstop.

Hi Paul
For a completely honest opinion I think that he wheels are too big, and that's what adds the height. It's also what makes it look a little too large for it's base.

Hi Paul,
Looks great mate.
The wheels are exactly the same ones i used and once painted they don't look out of place at all in my opinion.
What parts did you use for the chassis?
Love the way you've used the railings from the von Zeppel, I was going to but decided on a wooden pulpit instead.
I just wish the building sets has been out prior to me building mine because there's plenty of really good bits I'd have used.
Might even get round to building a second Altar for those 3000pt games ;D I've an idea for one based on a Steam Tank with a Bronze statue of a Griffon on top (using Karl Franz' Griffon) and a pulpit again.

It looks like it would need a lot more than two horses to pull it!

Think the Pope mobile looks cool as. The thing I would change would be the horses with all that work put into the chariot part, its a bit of a shame about using the plastic Empire horse. What about a pile of Flagellants pulling it, some Bret horses or peg they are bigger & rearing up, just a bit of greenstuffing to hide where the wings go. Whatever you decide the Chariot part is ace

I have like 300 bret horses if you stuck! Kevin - if you have a couple of the newer style (6th ed) plastic Bret horses that you could put in the post for me, that would be great! That would certainly save me buying a couple of Bret knights just for the horses. Cheers mate
