Ultramarine movie has just arrive by post. Just got it pretty much few mins ago.
I'll give it a watch right now & give a over view of the movie but no spoil anything of course.
Jamie
Edit
Movie was really good, really enjoy it. Was a bit to short but you can understand that the codex movie are testing the water, hopeful future movies will be a bit longer.
All I can say is NEVER listen to those who moan on the fourms. They did not see the movie, base all judgment on the trailer. Really sick & tired of all the moan on the fourms, why can't people enjoy any wargaming hobby for what it is. It dose make me jaded of most fourms, I want to see cool converted/painted armies & read tournament reports.
I'd highly suggest people buy this movie. It is not the ultimate best movie in the world, but it is really good to watch. I know right now I have a lot of conversion idea in my head.
I think this is also good in term of new people to the hobby to let them see how a Land Speeder move for exsample & to understand a bit more about the Marines.
Would happily re-watch this & I am around Christmas since it will be hiden.
Also there a lot of suprise. I can not say any more due to spolier, but well worth getting. Though you do need you full focuse on the movie so you do not miss out any bits.

I can honestly say I was completely un-impressed with the film.
Was it Codex pictures first attempt at making a feature length film? Yes. Did they spend the entire budget on the voice cast salaries? Seems like it, as the animation was, at times, gringe worthy.
For a 70 minute feature, not a single thing remotely exciting happened until 25 minutes into it. I was watching it late at night and genuinely was struggling to stay awake.
As nice as it was to see some Marines have a little personality it didn't shine past all that I disliked about the film, which was a lot.
I mean, for a chapter that adhere's to the Codex as strict as it does, there was no mention of it and no regard for it either.
I could go into more detail of all the things that disappointed me about it, but there is a character limit on the forum.

Still havn't seen it, not sure I want to based on the reviews.
How does it compare to the original Dawn of War intro? Cause there wasnt much wrong with that (maybe lacking plot - but its an intro)
Also - is the plot any good? or is it on par with a James Swallow 40k novel?

It doesn't even come close to the original DoW intro movie and as for James Swallow, his books would be up for a David Gemmell Legend award compared to this.
Honestly mate, it's an hour and 20 mins of your life you would wish you could take back, which is a shame because it had so much potential.

I though it was alright, offer some great idea for conversions (edit*, Like the Grey Hunter I have carry the book is base upon the Imperial Fist from the movie) & just some of the terrain as well be great on your gaming tables. Same will not dout happen when Space Marines is release for the PS3/x-box in Sept time. Maybe not a few thing I agree with, but overall would watch the movie while painting. Also who looking forward to Ultramarines the movie part 2 ;D www.imdb.com/title/tt0472181/

What a bunch of old men u all are, this was a 40K movie with everything u needed in it, what was it missing?
I have the biggest critics available to me in two young boys, who sit glued to it every time its on, whats not to like, future dudes in armoured suits fighting more scary looking dudes in armoured suits throw in a few weapons, bolter, heavy bolter, flamer, chainsword, thunderhammer, Big scary Possessed Monster at the end, spaceships. They love it, i feel you are all looking into it a little to much, looking for perfect background and such like. What about Braveheart did you enjoy that or was it not accurate enough or most war films Bridge to Far, Battle of Britain, Battle of the Bulge, how many rounds in that machine gun did he fire or Wallace never done that? It doesn't matter. If your looking for that go to the history channel or something.
Its worth a watch if your into 40K BOTTOM LINE!
Anyway enough of my rant. ITS GOT ULTRAMARINES IN IT AND THEY ARE COOL!
