What do people think?
Really?
Each to their own (as is always the case in army lists)
I have seen this unit in a lot of interweb lists - so i might be missing something.
but - thats 245pts spent on what is essentially 5 T3 5+ save troops.
When you focus on the last part of that sentence you should realise just how fast they are going to die, and you have invested a landraiders worth of points in it.
Now, ok, 1v1 against a landraider we all know which unit's going to come out on top, but realisticly a 5 man marine squad can waste this with ease.
Also, with their loadout, their primary target should be enemy vehicles - which also means that theyre not likely to earn themselves a pain point for that much needed FNP.
I would suggest dropping the Dracon.
- Do you really need a fifth blaster?
- that fifth blaster is a pistol and you should try and keep this unit at arms length for reason above.
- grenades: you should only use this units grenades as a desperate measure - 5 attacks, usualy hitting on 6's. Not a good chance of doing anything worthwhile, and would more likely end up getting squad wiped. (thats if grenades are on all, dont have book at hand. - much worse if just on Dracon)
I would also suggest swapping out the Raider for a venom
- Less points, combined with dropping Dracon should give you enough to play with elsewhere.
- Smaller footprint. Easier to hide when you need to.
Now, Army as a whole -
Like the theme, bit different to the usual and should be fun to use.
The Warriors don't seem to 'fit' as Jamie said, and you could consider dropping them, but don't overlook their babysitting objective potential. Maybe if you give them a raider they would be better suited. (even better with portal choice below..)
5 man Hellion squad - not seen enough of them using the new rules, but I would bet cash money that they will fall faster than an OAP in the snow. Maybe combine them into a 10 man unit.
7 bikes - maybe split these into smaller units and decide on their job.
If its cluster caltrops, just keep boosting them around to keep them alive (no shooting)
If its lances - drop the clusters as you want to keep them away from the enemy and these will just tempt you to use them.
NEED MORE LANCES!
get Ravagers as jamie said
Try and squeeze a wwp somewhere into the army (maybe a Haemi going with the warriors in raider - giving them FNP straight off) to get those razorwings safely into the fight. And maybe even a 2nd Haemi to go with the Razorwings - giving them FNP before they even come out portal...
