Hi everone
Just woundering if anyone seen any good step by step (prefferible with photos) or know how to paint a galaxy effect. I'm wanting to make my Iron Warrior Grand Company banner look cool & though be nice to have a galaxy effect & I'll be adding planets that are starting to crack up/die to chaos. I have look about but not had any luck from google, search on the fourms & looking that old white dwarf when Battlefleet gothic was release.
Thanks

Do you actually want a galaxy spiral effect ala the Andromeda or Milky Way or just a space background with stars?
The first would be stupidly hard to paint imho but for a star field the age old practice of flicking a tooth brush dipped in white paint from a distance should work.

What about using the real thing hubblesite.org/gallery/printshop/step1.phpTake the biggest scale image to a comercial printers and they can print it on to acrylic boards or canvas (not the kind you paint on) etc and it should not be all that expensive depending on what you print it on. There are retailers that have similar posters ready to buy but probably not big enough for a tabletop though some wargame suppliers do ones big enough. Otherwise all I can suggest is paint and a spounge or spray paint... something like this: m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=GB#/watch?v=2DdqLiOIs-AI'd go with the print out though. Cheers

Sorry Gus, I meant with the galaxy look, it was just somthing like these two diffrent Eldar armies & link below them is the codex Eye of Terror I commented on ;D Eldar from UKGT 2008 Heat 2 My friend Matt (Blacky) Eldar from Throne of Skulls October last year. Codex Eye of Terror images.wikia.com/warhammer40k/images/6/60/The_eye_of_Terror_2.jpgJust it has been somthing I wanted to try in the past but never got that right look when I try. It was just to see if there was any painting guide or if anyone had try it them selfs (Battlefleet gothic players) Thanks Jamie

Here is an example of what I was talking about: If the club was looking to do something special how about: www.flickr.com/photos/iksentrik/6772025567/If you wanted something more spacey you could use the first example for the table top and then get this set (see below) and put it below the perspex like in the second. They are a little small for using as obstacles to navigation but it would look great to fight over the top of with some asteroids! I know its still not what you asked for but its awesome. Cheers

Its fairly easy to do. You just don't need to be to tidy with it. Have you got an air brush? that will deliver the result in next to no time. Also, old brushes and use the 'flicking' method to splatter small drop lets of paint onto the model.
