I've never used it before but will be doing so with my Nurgle Daemons, so does anyone have any tips for using it? Do I need to mix ink/paint in with it or anything like that? I suppose - could one of the GW Falkirk staff could give me a tutorial in water effects as well? Would be appreciated. The Edinburgh staff were unavailable...

If you want to mix in a colour I would reccommend mixing in an ink rather than a paint. Paint makes it more opaque while ink helps it retain some of its tranlucency. Also - you don't need very much ink to colour it. I would experiment with painting the water effect over a basecoat and with mixing in differing quantities of ink before you commit to it.
My Nurgle force on another thread uses Woodland Scenics water effect mixed with a small amount of GW Dark Green Ink and painted over a basecoat of GW Dark Angels Green paint. That gives a pretty dark green slime.

If you just want a glistening effect, then varnish is the way to go, but I am guessing you want something more 3d and gloopy. I use Vallejo Still Water and Water Effects - the Effects stuff is very thick and you can get fantastic effects with it.
I added a little purple ink, put the mix into a bottle with a needle-nozzle and squeezed out some translucent intestines that keep a great, worm-y shape and harden in 24 hours.
