Well the rules for IG Doctrine at the tournament is that if you choose to use Doctrines you must use those of the army you have on the table. This is defined by both model and paint scheme.
In short, if you have Mordian models, painted as Mordian Iron Guard, you can either use no Doctrines at all or use the Doctrines for Mordians. You could not (for example) place those models and that paint scheme on the board and then state they were Cadian 8th.

but say i want to do a mordian army with mechanised?
Mechanised isnt a typical mordian doctrine, yet being realistic, the chances of a mordian regiment being issued chimera's for a certain mission is quite likely IMO.
So could i use custom doctrines for a mordian regiment fighting with unorthodox methods for some reason or another, that or could i claim that the regiment is just a custom regiment that happens to look like mordians?
Basically, mordian doctrines go like this - Sanctioned psykers - Ratling squads - Heavy weapon platoons - Sharpshooters - Close order drill - Die-hards
now, im using mordian mini's, painted in a scheme that was at one point classed as a mordian scheme (although im not sure if it still is) and i want my doctrines to go like this: - Mehcanised - sharpshooters - close order drill - Iron Dicipline - Rough rider squadrons
is that acceptable?
Cheers
Duncan

it should be, Marine players (so long as they are not bright blue with Omega symbols etc) can alter their lists to whatever, but guard because of the model we are pretty much restricted doctrone wise, in Duncans case, his model colour scheme do not feature at all in the codex, so can he be anything he likes?

Yeah, that's what I was trying to say in my 1st reply.
Using Mordian mini's with a totally custom paint scheme, you're free to use whatever Doctrines you like - you just can't say your army is a Mordian Iron Guard army.
It's when you want to use Mordian mini's and the Mordian colour scheme and then mess around with funny Doctrines that you start to confuse your opponent as what your army special rules are.

As an extra incentive to anyone wondering whether to give the tournament a shot, and thanks to the generosity of our friendly local GW, we now have an extra couple of cool prizes to give out on the day in the shape of books signed by Gav Thorpe and Graham McNeil! Very cool.

Hey, 1 or 2 of our members are thinking about giving this a try, assuming there are still tickets available, which leads to my question nicely...
Are there any tickets left?
