Surely two of the worst actors in Hollywood history?

Arnie is the greatest, so many fantastic 1 liners... "Get to the Chopper!"

Paul is quite correct that in terms of overall acting ability, compared to the likes of Denzel Washington, Tom Hanks etc they are bloody terrible.
They did however, make some of the best films in the action genre. No oscars anytime soon, but if you simply want a night of random mindless violence, pick any movie they've made.

Tom Hanks FTW
He made me shed a tear in Forest gump when he gets all choked up when he finds out he has a son.

Arnie is the greatest, so many fantastic 1 liners. So it's Arnies writers that are the greatest. He can't act to save his life. Luckily - that hardly matters with the movies that he's done, I love T2 as much as the next man, but no-one is going to convince me that the guy has any range as an actor.

No matter how much one criticises their acting skills, it's still them with the multi-millions and not us. Tom Hanks is a great actor and he was perfect in Forrest Gump. He was also good in the Green Mile. He also made the Simpsons movie worth watching as there was nothing else going for it. I love watching all the Schwarzenegger films just to see how bad he manages to make his jokes - I think it's a running joke with him to put the worst possible jokes in his films. Here are one or two examples: In the Sixth Day (the one where humans are illegally cloned) at the end where he kills the chief baddie and his clone, he finishes him off with "when I told you to go screw yourself, I didn't mean it literally" as the clone's corpse lands on its human counterpart. No need to mention that he puts "I'll be back" into all films. The Last Action Hero was genius when he said "I'll be back! Ha! You didn't know I was gonna say that, did you?". In the same film, he says to a guy "you want to be a farmer? Here's a couple of achers" and boots the guy in the crotch. Painful in more ways than one. youtube.com/watch?v=bzCZdQbQefI&feature=related

Commando was amazing.
Guy - 'Your gonna kill these guys for the president and youll get your daughter back, right?' Arnie - 'WRONG' *blasts guy off chair with gun*
Classic.

I am not that big a fan of Sly, the rocky films are predictable but a good laugh, and Rambo is just mindless violence, I would say as far as acting goes... Arnie just wins, but it doesn't really get him that high up, as yes he is a bad actor, but the roles he plays no one else could have pulled off as well as him

I think that Arnie has actually played his cards very well with regard to his acting abilities. For instance, I think that he would never consider a serious role in a film and instead has gone for the ridiculously cheesy roles because that's what he does so well. For example, that film where his daughter is kidnapped. My god, I was reeling when watching his father-daughter relationship, it was that cheesy.
And now I think about it, the thing John C mentioned with the "WRONG *blasts guy away*" might be a nod to the Terminator:
*Arnie loads shotgun in gun store* Store owner: "hey, you can't do that" Arnie: "WRONG" *blows guy away*

He does take the more goofy roles, and I can't think of a film where he is taken overly seriously, this film would be complete with cheese if Jean Claud reared his head
