Is anyone intending to play these? I saw the second clip for Warhammer online AoR the other day and it looks incredible. If you haven't seen it just search for it on Youtube. Release Sep18. Having just invested in a new PC I was thinking of trying it out. Either that or LOTRO, which also looks pretty cool for Tolkien-heads. However, I do remember Paul Brook's warning about WoW - "It was harder to give up than smoking...", coming from someone who smoked 11 years or something I believe. I try and tell myself that I'll just dabble in it form time to time... So is anyone else considering heading down this particular slippery slope? Paul B, not tempted to risk another immersion?

I play lots of games, but MMORPGs are danerous, I "dabbled" in Everquest, I didn't leave my computer for 14 hours, sleep 9, eat etc in the 1 remaining... however, they both do look very good fun and I might play whichever one seems to have the better community as that is key in online games. I am guessing they are both pay monthly which is a bit of a shame

Paul B, not tempted to risk another immersion? Always tempted, and I stand by what I said - that smoking was easier to give up than WoW. My PC is ageing these days so I really don't know if it will handle Age of Reckoning. If it has a chance of doing so I'll give it a go as it does look great and is pretty much a WoW clone as far as I understand it. LOTRO looks pretty decent but I understand that that it is very Role-play heavy so if that is what you fancy from a MMORPG then it might suit. I'd be tempted to dive into LOTRO if I knew someone else playing in it but I'd like to see if I can run WAR...

Well seeing as though I don't sleep enough as it is, I'd be better off giving both of these a miss. I lost about 6 months of my life to EVE online and I don't want to go down that road again...
...not that I could if I wanted too, PC is old and slow.

I seem to be the opposite of everyone here I'd love to play Warhammer Online but I'm not sure I'd play it enough for it to be worth it. I know with these sorts of games you have to put quite a bit of time into it and I could see myself starting but not playing that regularly.

plat at your own pace, no one forces you to play lots. Clans can be a pain as you have to show up for raids etc, but if you freelance or even do it with a few mates it can be good. Me and Duncan both play Eve but not like the "hardcore" people Goonfleet etc.

Is Eve any good then? I might be up for that, and my pc should be able to handle it I guess.

I feel it's my duty to warn you that EVE is officially crap. It's a complete waste of brainpower, CPU power, time, energy and matter. Please don't do it.

I spent many happy hours playing Oblivion with both the expansion packs. Then I changed character and re-did the game. That's a long game...
RuneScape is a very addictive online game too.
Still, I'll only consider getting the LOTR game. Mark of Chaos put me off all WH games.

Eve yes and no, it can be a fair grind, but for a 14 day free trial it isnt half bad, bit slow to get going, and it is MASSIVE (though Duncan managed to find me, eventually...). As far as MMOs go I am liking it, it is probably not as fun as Everquest as that was alot of action where as Eve doesn't seem that way. I can see it being addictive though, but I am only part time at college and once I have moved house it can fill up time nicely Just get Counter Strike, gaming perfection there! Edit: Day 4 now I think, and I have myself a nice pretty ship bristling with gun batteries which makes it alot more fun. Some missions are standard MMO "take X to Y for gold" but the space combat is fun, and the "leveling" is interesting, you don't level as such, but you can train to gain skills on for example being able to fly certain ship classes, improve weapons, engineer makes your ships more power efficient etc, alot of well thought out things, and after about 18 hours I am getting the hang on it I feel I may become hooked...

So you know, I deleted Eve lat night and I am not playing it again, I can see that being very addictive, but as said it is fairly boring alot of the time, skills dont require you to even be at the PC, and most of the moving around is fairly auto pilot, and SLOOOOOOOOW... even though you are in a space ship doing light speed It takes a while to get to where you want. Might try which ever one of these games throws a free trial at me first

I just picked up Rising Force Online for £3 which is now free to play as it's a few years old. I'll give it a try this week sometime. I guess I can't go wrong for £3

. I guess I can't go wrong for £3 Or it could go horribly wrong and you lose 2 years of your life never got the hang of MMORPG, probably because of my awful computer.
