Rising Force? As in RF Online? Big mechs with guns? I saw TelepathicPurpleMoney (aka other neil) playing it a while ago, looks alright, but this was when they charged monthly and it put me off

That's the one. It's free to play nowadays and it was £3 in a shop so I thought I'd give it a punt. I havn't installed it yet. I'm slightly traumatised that I might be the only person unable toplay WAR. Any idea how heavy it will be on the PC? My PC is showing it's age these days. I have a 2.8Ghz Pentium 4, 1GB RAM and an NVidea 6600GT (I think). Any idea whether this will run WAR at all?

the min for XP is as follows: · 2.5 GHz P4 processor or equivalent · 1 Gigabyte RAM · A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0 · At least 15 GB of hard drive space
So your 6600GT fits the bill (shader model 3.0 on them, and 128Mb of graphics memory). You got the 2.8Ghz P4 so that if fine and the gig of RAM, but don't expect to play it to its full graphics unfortunatly, but to answer the question it should run
Just noticed... 15Gb hard disk space!! Thats HUGE! Even all my Unreal Tournament games peak about 11Gb, thats 5 games...! So make sure you got plenty of space

I will have a spare "A C&C Red Alert 3-exclusive item for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (also available with the standard edition of C&C Red Alert 3). " apparently from my Red Alert Collectiors edition, so if someone does get the game, and they want it I have no use, Red Alert 3 and Far Cry 2 will be more than enough. Can't decide if I want the limited edition Far Cry 2... hardly seems worth the money, the Red Alert 3 bundle however, you get the music CD from Red Alert 3, and if the previous to games are anything to go by, Frank Klepacki is going to make an awesome soundtrack

I'll take it Gav? I picked WAR up today and it looks like it will run ok(ish) on minimum settings. Managed to get it running anyway. Hopefully it won't be too jaggy when the action gets more hectic. Just running around killing Ungors at the moment...

I've only been in the game for about half an hour. I went for a Chaos Magus but I'll probably play a couple of options before I choose one to stick with. As far as comparing to WoW - so far it looks like a WoW clone, so whether that is a good thing or not depends... I think it looks great, I just hope I can run it smoothly when things get crowded.

My laptop most probably can't run it competently and I dislike WoW type games anyway.
Now off to play Oblivion...

Better let that item go to someone else Gav. I've uninstalled WAR as it dosn't look like my pc will cope with it. Too laggy and skippy, then a blue-screen of death to finish me off. Towards the end of my time in WoW I was spending as much time on tech-support forums as I was in game and I really don't want to go down that route again. I'll shelve it until I have a new PC some day.

Upgrading shouldn't be too hard or costly, I would guestimate around £70 gets you another gig of RAM and a new graphics card just so ya know, but its a pitty the game doesn't run and I imagine rather annoying

I already doubled up the RAM from 512MB to 1GB and upped the graphics card to a NVidea GeForce 6600GT when Rome Total War came out so I wasn't sure if the motherboard could handle another upgrade. Is there anywhere I can find out if a further upgrade is possible or whether my motherboard would be too much of a bottleneck to make it wotrthwhile?

If you can get the name of the mobo theres a few sites which list its compatabilities, although as far as i know i think the PSU [power suply unit] will be the main limiting factor as far as graphics cards are concerned. Then again, everything i know i learnt via Gav, so best to wait for his reply

hey... I haven't had any PC failure for 6 months now... I am getting good at it! Well as Duncan said, if you can post up your spec or even pictures it might be possible to do some updates easily, or the big question here, if you know you have a AGP graphics card, or PCI-Express (the latter is newer, and much cheaper these days)

Pretty sure it's AGP (off the top of my head). At the weekend I'll have a look at everything and post some specs. Maybe then you could help give me some pointers?
I'm off to the west coast for meetings for a couple of days, see you later.
