Hi everone a little bit of a copy & paste from IW fourms. Also since you lot know me & how I like to play. Just to get some though
Hi everone
First all sorry if I do seem a bit edge with some my reply with the army list. Just past experince from the fourm & why I rarely post my army list for review. Just got fed up of thing like "take a big unit of Raptor" when I said I did not wish them for exsample or they suggest way making my HQ weaker.
Second this is merely some though & just get other people idea.
So my Grand Tournament list I use that this year GT heat 1 was
Daemon Prince with wing - 130
4 Termies, Combi Plasma - 140
4 Termies, Combi Plasma - 140
10 Chaos Marines, 1 Heavy Bolter, 1 Plasma Gun, Power Weapon Champ, Icon
Rhino
10 Chaos Marines, 1 Heavy Bolter, 1 Plasma Gun, Power Weapon Champ, Icon
Rhino
10 Chaos Marines, 1 Heavy Bolter, 1 Melta gun, Power Weapon Champ, Icon

Total 1500pts
So a bit of the army:
As you see it a bit "in your face" armour assault because I like my Mobilty. The Obliterators give covering fire to my Rhino assault & just in general better than Havocs since I can move & fire.
Termies units, alway Deep Strike them useing Icons. Come down, fire there Plasma into a unit that can pose a danger to my 10 man squads after assault. Then once those Plasma have been use by next turn my Termies turn around & counter attack or just assault into a new unit.
Rhinos & 10 man squads, Rhinos are great for block true line of sight or to trap enemy units from falling back after combat, tend to use the "Rhino wall" tactic & more so when my units are holding object.... it also wired I notice I rarely loss all my Rhinos out of 20+ games only loss them 3 times, in fact never loss one in the GT.
While 3x 10 man squads, are of course needed for scoring reasons.
Daemon Prince, he a big part my background of the IW 5th Grand Company, he a cool model & is a rock hard close combat monster able to handly small elite units by himself, low S units as well or just counter attack what ever my other units are holding.
In Mission I feel I done alright in games & my army shown no real weakenss like being to stastic, not enough fire power. It had mix result from win, loss, draws. I slaughter Orks hordes in combat, I slaughter Jet bike Eldar, I been bombarded by Jet Bike Eldar, I feel the fire power of the Tau & there greater good, I held the same amount fo objects as Chaos Marines.
The only army that cause me a lot headace is Mech Tau but that alway has been & will alway be a Nemises dreaded army I will face & have to live with.
So with the part done, now onto some my though
I been having a look that my army list & one thing is. A few mission you are needing to keep hold of objects. So I usely set my in a conrner.... though I should start (depend the army) seting them up near the oppent object near his d-zone to really scare him & put there mind that un easy.
But just usely in these mission I tend to put them in the conrer & it case of I go to get there in there conrner & they get mine, or I hold mine, they hold there.
While other mission I tend to do alright as said with mix bag of result.
But looking that the list & so I do not have a Rhino unit held back protecting my objects. I rather have all my Rhinos squads in the thick of the battle slaughtering my enemies with Bolter & chainswords get up close & face to face.
So was thinking for this reason & from what Phil Kelly said in the White Dwarf. He said somthing along the line of, he take cheap unit of Guardien or Grots to hold his own object, nice, cheap & are troops.
So with this in mind I was thinking of:
Drop 2x Termies (1 Termy per squad) so that 70pts I have right there. Then Heavy Bolter from Squad 2 that another 25pts so a total of 95pts.
I could possible go for a fourth troop squad being a 5 man Chaos Marine squad with Melta gun & Icon. So that 95pts there.
Though they are mainly babysitting objects do not let that fool you. The unit I use that 40k Radio tournament though was mainly baby sitting they did do there fair share of work & just as much as my Rhino units. Vs orks they saw off a unit of Ork Kommandos & Ork Death Kopa away from my home Object & still had four of there Number standing holding the Object while my Rhinos where slaughtering the Orks & there object.
So the +
I gain a extra scoring unit
Though baby sitting squad, they still have & will prove them self
Extra few models & new conversion
I still got enough Specil Weapons (I loss 2x Combi Plasma, but I gain a Melta that will be there forever)
The -
I loss some Power Weapon attacks
Unsure of the loss of a Termies but if it got to be done it got to be done
I loss a Heavy Bolter, yes I do use them now & then out of the Hatchies from my Rhinos.
But as said they hold home object & my Rhino squads can focuse on taken oppent object or just getting into the thick of the battle with 29 Chaos Marines, Daemon Prince 6 Termies (instead of 8) with Oblits slow getting there fire off there weapons while Rhinos give cover.
So the new list would be
Daemon Prince, Wing
2x 3 Termies, Combi Plasma
10 Chaos Marines, Plasma Gun, Heavy Bolter, Champ with power weapon
10 Chaos Marines, Melta gun, Heavy Bolter, Champ with power weapon
9 Chaos Marines, Plasma gun, Champ with power weapon
all in Rhino & have Icon
5 Chaos Space Marines, Icon, Melta Gun
4x Obliterators 1/1/2
I'm trying to keep away from cult units & I am trying keep my army mobilty. But as said the unit of 5 will just be there to baby sit the object. There no real weakness to the army, just more how I can change thing around.
This topic again mainly on the though & should/will it be a good move to make. For the small unit of 5 Chaos Marines though i said there babysitting object dose not mean they will be sitting there done nothing, as said in pass games they done just as much work as my 10 man Rhino squads.
Hope all this make sence & seem I went on a bit.
