Are you over 18 and would like to help run the club?
Each year at the AGM, we say goodbye to last years committee and say hello to a new one. If you would like to have a go at filling any of the positions below, then leave a reply in this thread with the details of which position you would like to go for.
In the event that more than one persons would like to go for the same position, we would ask the candidates to say why they think they would be the best for that role and ask members to vote at the AGM.
The available positions and a brief outline of what they do are as follows:
Chairman - Responsible for keeping the club moving forward and for ensuring that we achieve overall the best quality club for it's members and visitors.
Membership & Publicity Officer - Runs the membership scheme and looks for new publicity opportunities for all our events.
Games & Events Officer - (two posts). Responsible for designing the games that we take to wargaming shows and also reponsible for running our tournaments and campaigns.
Treasurer - keeps all our banking work up to date and reports back as to what we have available.
So, if you are 18 or over and don't mind being subjected to the a CRB background check then please consider putting yourself forward for one of the above positions and offer a little of your spare time to help run the club.
Cheers Gus

I'm happy to continue as membership officer so I'll put myself forward again.

Whilst very new to the club, in the interests of ensuring all posts are filled I have no problem putting myself forward for the role of treasurer. I would stress I would be happy enough to stand aside should a more established member be willing to do so.
I would say I was suitable for the role as my job is all about financial control. Happy to detail this further but not on a forum.
Is a CRB check the same as a disclosure check? If so, I have a current one if I can find it.

It is not anything too difficult when I did mine last year all I had to send was my drivers license, a bank statement and my national insurance card and I got them back within a week. Also you get a choice of what to send so you can use things like a passport for example.

Actually, the GCN need any committee members to go through a CRB check as opposed to Disclosure Scotland, but as David says it's 10 mins of your life and a loan of some paperwork for a week to fill out the form.

I think if we want the Saturday sessions to continue we should have 2 different event roles thusday event role and saturday event role

I won't put my name forward for anything, since I can only make Saturday sessions (which don't exist at the moment), but I agree with Primer. One of the issues with Saturday sessions was getting a Committee member along to open and close up, so having another body (or two) on the Committee to avoid being short-staffed in future would be a good idea.
