As an aside, I've not picked up the PC legendary edition yet. A quick question - one of the wee niggles I had with the basic game was that the interface didn't show the dice roll and result nicely. It scrolled up a rapid roll of text that left me scrabbling through the text trying to work out what dice rolls had just put my star blitzer on his arse. I was hoping that a nice dice roll graphic or other UI tweak might be implemented. Anything along those lines in the legendary edition?

Nope, still side scrolling text. It is a bit clearer what rolls are getting used in blocking and what skills are getting used, but not by much. My biggest gripe about PC game was &*%holes disconnecting as soon as they go 1-0 down or theyre star player gets injured... Thankfully they'e just released a patch that allows matchmaking in private leagues - so anyone trying that should get booted Its not a lot different than it was, but not having to face boring-boring dwarves every other game is a HUGE improvement (IMHO). Its nice to face an undead or amazon team and go "hmm never faced them before.." (only 'proper' team not there is Chaos Dwarves, something about having too many legs on centaurs is their excuse) And - Nurgle are a major pain in the arse for elves.. But good fun to play against if you like a challenge. Imagine it would be similair for Skaven. Honestly - I wouldn't have touched it with a barge-pole after the last effort, but it was only £15 at Amazon, so probably be cheaper now. I reckon its worth that.

Squinty - any chance you could impose a "painted models only" rule? It's not hard to get a BB team painted and it would make the league more enjoyable by a long shot.

Normally - I would agree with you Paul, but it's only a week away and I don't want to put off new players because they now have to learn rules, collect and paint the models in a week.
I think at this point I'd rather have a full league than a half empty all painted league.
Most of the teams (the ones I know) are fully painted anyway - so it shouldn't be a major issue.
We could add the +1 re-roll for fully painted rule?
What's peoples thoughts on that?

There does need to be something, yes.
Either a bonus re-roll for having a fully painted team, or perhaps a bonus to your winnings at the end of a match, an extra 10k perhaps?
New players will soon learn to have a team painted when they realise that their team is skint and losing players?

Not that I'm likely to participate before this league ends, but the recent suggestions sound reasonable. Another possibility is giving such teams extra fan factor/FAME, which would probably be less of an advantage but still a bonus.
The potential problem I foresee may be defining what counts as 'fully painted' - particularly because some teams are much easier/harder to paint than others. Some (e.g. Lizardmen, Undead, Nurgle) probably could qualify with not much more than a basecoat and wash. Ultimately though, I guess the rule is always that the League Commissioner's word is final!

Yes Ben, after I posted and went to work , that though occured and I'd have to agree. Fan factor is more appropriate in my mind (who doesnt like a shiny painted team?) And while is a great bonus on certain kick-off's - isn't as overpowering as an extra re-roll could be. Edit - to deal with the sneaky Ninja... particularly because some teams are much easier/harder to paint than others. Some (e.g. Lizardmen, Undead, Nurgle) probably could qualify with not much more than a basecoat and wash. See, you are obviously new. That is how EVERYTHING across central Scotland is painted... Some people still paint occassionally - its the maniacs with the multiple washes and umpteen blogs that give us all a bad name...

See, you are obviously new. That is how EVERYTHING across central Scotland is painted... Obviously that's why I don't see many high elves (etc)... Some of the examples on this forum suggest otherwise, but if there is to be some bonus for 'fully painted' then I would think it ought to refer to a tabletop quality that anyone can easily satisfy, rather than for Golden Demon entries.

Well, fully painted by Conflict standards was 3 colours minimum, based, all areas to be defined.

To be fair, I think we all want the BloodBowl league to be about fun.
(and certainly this season - about introducing new coaches to the game to expand the player base)
I take on board all coments and certainly don't wish to be a dictator in the role of League Commisionar. I'm definately not going to penalise (god I hope I spelt that right) new players who have spent the last week or two trying to learn the rules for using brand new or kit-bashed minis to try a new game. Next season - maybe...
I do agree (as already said) a free re-roll IS probably too much of a bonus, perhaps a free cheerleader or assistant coach? That way - it IS a bonus and an incentive, but only on certain Kick-off results and shouldn't be game breaking..?
Thoughts?

I see where you are coming from Ross. It would be nice to have an incentive of some sort though as I have played in a lot of leagues where week after week there is no progress at all in the quality of the models on the board. I've played opponents that are perfectly happy to play a full team of unpainted and un-named models for the duration of the league. Sometimes the models are not even glued into the base.
Could we ask players to name and number the models on the board please? It only takes five minutes to paint numbers on the bases and to come up with suitably heroic names and I'm struck with how often even that doesn't happen. I've had opponents allocating SPP or injuries etc along the lines of "er.. the player with his hand in the air is number 4 on the roster, I think... or is it. Yeah he was last week, so I'll stick with that..."
Anyway, re painting; I agree that we don't need to be nazis about it, just a simple three colours and based makes a difference to the game. Or I could be a nazi about it and say no unpainted models on my BB pitch....
