Welcome sports fans, to another exciting season of: The Season kicks off Thursday [glow=red,2,300]17th February 2011[/glow] The league is open to both brand new coaches and seasoned professionals alike. League Specifics. The league shall use the current BBCR Rulebook for the season, so if you still use LRB5 – it’s time to upgrade! (Link Below) [glow=blue,2,300]Gus has said that everyone who joins the league shall be provided with a hardcopy of the rules by the club.[/glow] Teams shall be created to a 1Million GP starting team roster, and must contain a minimum of 11 players. No minimum Fan Factor must be bought. Special Play Cards will not be in use. All inducements on page 28 of the rulebook will be in play. Spiralling Expenses and full concession rules (Page 29 of BBCR) will be in play. The league shall be run in an open play style, allowing players to play as much or as little as they wish. Coaches may not play the same opponent consecutively. Continual refusal of a challenge – In this instance direct a complaint to me, I will issue an official league challenge and if this is refused shall be considered a concession (with all penalties this incurs - page 29 BBCR). Substitutions rules as per page 31 of BBCR, are not used. Team CreationSquinty is in the role of League Commissioner – meaning that Bribes are more than welcome Coaches must get their team roster details to Squinty either at the club on a Thursday evening, or by PM on the Forum. Final dates to get rosters in for kickoff (ie 17th Feb) play are :[glow=green,2,300]10th Feb at the Club or 15th Feb by PM.[/glow]Each Team Roster MUST include the Coaches name, Team Name and each player must also be given a name. (Try to use a little imagination to name them – Lineman 1, Blitzer 2 etc won’t be accepted, neither will 16 players called Bob) League PlayThe first game will be arranged via drawing of lots from Coaches attending on the 17th. Coaches are free to organise their own opponent for all games after the first in the league. All match records must be noted (and READABLE!) and passed to League Commissioner Squinty as soon as possible after each game. Ineligible scrawls will be entered as best I can, it’s in your best interests to write clearly. – you have been warned! League tables and other statistics will be posted on the Forum as regularly as possible (Once a week barring holidays/wife nagging/injury). League Table will be in post above this one, stats in posts below. This post will be used and altered for announcements etc..) A fresh team roster will be printed off and available to each coach every Thursday Club night. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- NBAQ’s (Never Been Asked Questions)What is Bloodbowl?Bloodbowl is GW’s Fantasy Football game (think American Football with Orcs, Elves and skeletons and you won’t be too far away) Regarded by many as GW’s best ever game!I’ve never played Bloodbowl before can I play?Of course – In fact it’s encouraged that new players join the league. To assist this - all the ‘experienced’ coaches that have been spoken to so far have agreed to use one of the ‘Lower Tier’ teams (meaning they will be using weaker teams ) (Thank you all who agreed!) I will also be bringing Bloodbowl every week until the season kickoff, so if you are new to the game and wish to give it a try – speak to me (or send a PM if you’re shy!)Where do I get models / rules?Models can be ordered from your friendly local GW manager (Donzo / Primer), or converted from Fantasy miniatures. You will need at least 11 players and a maximum of 16. the BBCR rulebook is available as an online download (Links below)I cannot make the first week or get my team in on time. Can I still join the League?Of course, as it is an open style league, players may join at any time. The only thing I ask is that team rosters are PM’d to me at least 48hrs before your first game. (this allows me time to get league updated and print off your team roster). What else do I need to play? For the most part, a team and a roster sheet will get you by. A Bloodbowl Board, range ruler, templates and dice would be advantageous too. If you own a pitch, templates and dice, please bring these along to the club with you as <I think> the club only owns 2 pitches currently. You mentioned ‘Tiers’ of teams – what is that?Bloodbowl isn’t balanced like most games. It openly admits that some races are just better than others. This may not sound fair, but some coaches prefer the challenge of winning games with a Tier 3 team than winning with ease with a Tier 1 team. Tier 1 Teams are generally regarded as the best Bloodbowl Teams, Tier 2 are perfectly usable, but take a bit more care and really need to learn a few skills before they can compete with Tier 1 teams and Tier 3 teams are the most challenging (expected to lose about 60% of all games) – but sometimes most fun to play and most rewarding. The Tiers are: Tier 1: Orc, Wood Elf, Skaven, Dwarf, Chaos Dwarf, Norse, Amazon, Undead, Lizardmen Tier 2: Human, Elf, Dark Elf, Chaos, Khemri, High Elves, Nurgle, Necromantic Tier 3: Goblins, Vampires, Halfling, OgresMy leg just fell off!Sorry, as much as I would love to help, I think you’d be better of seeking professional assistance.... --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ANY QUESTIONS OR SUGGESTIONS – PLEASE SEND ME A PM (They are easier to ignore that way)--------------------------------------------------------------------------- LINKSBBCR (BloodBowl Competition Rules) (Rulebook) www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m780049a_Blood_Bowl_Competition_Rules.pdfThe Art of Blocking (An interesting guide in how to make the most of your blocking) (and almost essential reading!) www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1310006_BB_Art_of_Blocking.pdfBloodBowl teams and Tactics (an excellent site full of good stuff whether you’re a beginner or not) bbtactics.com/Good Luck All! Questions -
Can I have 15 players called Bob and 1 called Derek?
Does promising not to Seriously Injured all bar 3 members of your team count as a bribe?
Does 'experienced' = successful?
Does using lower tier teams mean 2 and 3, or just 3?

Experienced <> successful (ie. you) Lower tier = Tier 2 or 3

I'll give the updated rules a glance when I get the chance, and I'll go either Necromantic or Ogres once I see what minis I have lying around.

I'm keen on playing Blood Bowl in general (Orcs or Lizardmen), but I'm new to the Stirling area and not yet a member of the club. Unfortunately Thursday night work commitments mean that I'm unable to come (regularly at least) until around May/June, so it looks like I'll miss out on this new league.
How often do you start new leagues? Are they all-year affairs? And will it be possible for me to join much later? (I've never used the online rules, but a quick look at the inducements, etc make me think that a new team shouldn't be at too much of a handicap against higher rated ones...)

This is only the second attempt at a league,
Don't think it will last all year Ben, a few months maybe.
If all goes well, I'll start another run in autumn.
The inducements do balance things out a lot compared to older editions, but I wouldnt go as far as to say they put teams on an equal footing.
Close enough that you can reasonably win the game though - which is enough.

This is only the second attempt at a league, I'm sure I've been in at least six at the club over the years!
