I just noticed that GW's orc boys now come in boxes of ten rather than nineteen, for basically the same price they were before (they may have gone back down from £18.50 to £18). www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440079a&prodId=prod900162aA nasty stealth price increase there. Or, if there was any warning, I missed it (though I don't read White Dwarf these days). Goblins still seem to be in boxes of twenty. Indeed, I haven't noticed anything else changing; but perhaps if you want things that currently come in larger boxes - skaven, saurus warriors, Empire militia, zombies, etc - it would be an idea to get some now...

That happened when they were repackaged for the new book, and I think the sprue was changed slightly. The same happened with Beastmen.
I expect that it will happen to most of the kits as the books are redone, which really worries me about my Ogre army, as I don't fancy the 6 Bulls for £18 dropping/jumping to 3 for £27.
Although, in saying that, I do know that I can get 100 Orc boys for £75, rather than £185.

Yes, ogres are another bargain, compared to minotaurs and trolls (etc). Then again, GW pricing often seems guided largely by how common things are - since OK armies need lots of ogres they must sell more than the others.
But you're right about the competition. When I compare Mantic's limited range of poses and few extras to GW sprues, GW win hands down. But you can buy 40 Mantic Revenants for £25, which is less than what GW want for ten of their (admittedly very nice) Tomb Kings tomb guards...
Anyway, didn't mean to turn this into a thread ranting about GW prices, merely to draw the stealth increase to people's attention. Glad I bought the orcs I did in January before the VAT rise, but half wish I'd got another box now.
