My assumption was that this would be a new 'premium' range, somewhat like Tesco Finest - i.e. that you can still buy your standard miniatures, but for those who want something extra special there are these. Actually, rather like some of the ForgeWorld stuff. But then I'm probably wrong...

Could be, i heard rumours a few months back about resin, that was supposed to eventually replace their metal models due to increasing metal costs.
But the advert does tend to suggest special model range.
Who knows? All i know is the important thing, they wont be any cheaper.

Site up & now read the stuff. Guess we'll see on the 23rd the annoucement.
That least I can buy my BFG fleet on Wed with no effect. Was just worry as there a lot of talk on the fourms over the resin/metal. Just want to get my fleet as a better be safe than sorry thing.
Just when only saw the heading I though it was about this, but now see it, guess well see 23rd.

Assuming it is resin... I see the rationale from the cost point of view, but my understanding was that they switched from lead to white metal years ago (I forget when, though I was playing at the time - late 90s sometime) largely because of concerns about lead being poisonous. But my understanding is that resin is toxic. Isn't this a backwards step?

Well, going by the rumours on the Warseer its ALL the current metal minis that are switching to resin. Shops are already not receiving replacement stock when they have ran out. Which is why Ive just put a large deposit on some new BFG fleets. Because if this is the case (and the Warseer rumourmill is usually spot on depending on who you listen to) then I can see the specialist games range getting dropped (just my opinion - havent heard anything to substantiate this) I cant see GW making the investment to replace the moulds for the specialist stuff. www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=298959Yes, this was why was sort of a little worry yesterday when I saw the annoucement but nothing on the page. As said buy the rest of my BFG tomorrow & was just getting annoyed that it had the fine cast heading, but no post for a good hour or so. As said just due to buy BFG stuff tomorrow, just worry incase of any effect/was not able to order the rest of my stuff tomorrow & the worry you have there squinty in term of possible not seen specil stuff done that is already metal?? So was getting a little annoyed yesterday as said when it was just heading, but nothing else. As I just wanted to know if my order BFG Marine ship had any effect for tomorrow, as said incase they where no longer taken order for metal models?. As it a sale toward the store end of the day & is £50.70 for the last bit of my fleet. But seem I'm up to mail order them tomorrow which is good & not so worry ;D So that the main thing for me ;D Necromunda I got my gang & can convert any future once, Blood Bowl I tend to use plastic kits for pose/make each player stand out as I like converting. Was going to start epic but not a lot of people collect it. So right now my focuse game wise is 40k is my main game, then BFG (favrout game after 40k), Bloodbowl, Space Hulk, Necromunda, City of the Damned (WFB version Necromunda). Resin dust can cause cancer, as why alway suggested to wear a dust mask & sand/file in a well air room. Just from my college course we where taugh all about it, etc... Anyone who sanded the resin in the class room due to being lazy where given a warning. Kept doing it then they would be ban from the material. However while saying this, rumour has it due to this being a hobby for age 12+ (some time 9 year old) the resin will not be like the type Forge World use. Be a combi plastic/resin which is a little safer & I belive a few wargame company already use this.

I've never played BFG, so wouldn't mind that too much. And for Necromunda, Blood Bowl, Mordheim, and Gorkamorka it's easy enough to make most things out of alternative plastic models anyway. Still, it would be a shame if specialist games were officially not supported, as opposed to in practice hardly supported.

In the meantime, there's only one question you need to ask yourself: "What will my first Citadel Finecast miniature be?" In the meantime, there's only one question you need to ask yourself What will my last Citadel miniature be...

I'm intrigued by the reference to (cutting resin off) sprues. My understanding was that these things would be just like metal, without sprues.
Too bad I'm working Saturday, so guess I'll miss the grand unveiling.
