Hello again, Just found a couple of other cool things on the www while stopping for lunch: The first gave me another laugh Asiago Jones, Mousling Adventurer: www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/asiago/sku-down/03577#detail/03577_p_1 jk The second is more steampunky goodness in the form of Leviathans: Monsters in the Sky review from Gencon with a link I missed from the makers site with a pdf 'suck it and see' pack. Reviewwww.armchairgeneral.com/leviathans-wargame-of-the-show-at-gencon.htmpdf downloadmonstersinthesky.com/downloads/Leviathans%20Lieutenants%20Manual%20for%20Web.pdfI am going to print this off, read it through and then bring it along on Thursday. If you have not been keeping tabs on this game it turns out its going to be a pre-painted boxed game with expansions, but with a regular wargaming ethos (modelling, painting and so on) so you will be able to buy the models separately if you choose. So a novel take on the boxed game model. The models are not as detailed as Spartan's Dystopian Wars, but then you don't have to do anything other than open the box and stick them together. Though it does give me some ideas for combining the two sets of models for some interesting conversions, as they are the same scale. Cheers

After down loading the intro rules for Leviathans and having read through them I have to say I am looking forward to giving it at go at some point and will definitely put it on my wish list... more so because it won't add to my pile of unpainted miniatures.
The basic rules are straight forward and look like fun. The box set when it comes out will come with a hexed, wipe clean play mat (sounds like fun already). So movement and range is straight forward 1 movement/range point = 1 hex. There are multiple D12 dice in the box set with differing numbers on them (ie black = 1-12 while blue is 1-4 repeated), this was to save money on multiple dice types, so playing a demo you just use a D12 for black and a D4 for blue. So damage is based on the dice value of weapon (each has two bands 'close' being more powerful than 'long' range) + the gunnery crew bonus dice if they have not been killed + a dice based on if the enemy ship moved or not, vs. the locations armour value + any bonuses. All these would be colour coded in the game so will be far less complicated than in intro version, ie it might be 2 green + 1 red dice vs 13 armour.
The intro rules miss out the fire and forget torpedoes, hight levels and many other more involved rules. But it looks like fun.
If anyone wants to give it a go give me a shout, I suspect the intro version will take no longer than about a half hour.
Cheers

Rather than starting another thread about something I spotted on the net. BoLS posted some interesting Hordes related photos from PAX. First is the new Circle battle engine 'The Celestial Fulcrum' and then at the bottom of the post is some WIP shots of plastic Dire Troll Warbeasts. Very cool. www.belloflostsouls.net/2011/08/breaking-warmachine-pax-goodies.html
