That isn't a list of tweaks. That's a major re-release of the game dynamics :-D

To be fair - most of these you won't even notice when playing and the major ones (C4 teamswitching) was just abuse that most players wouldnt have used anyway.

No mention of " Fixed bug where Paul Brooks is randomly disconnected from games whereby he loses any meagre progress he might have made". I had a thought on that Paul - have you tried manually updating punkbuster? www.evenbalance.com/

Found this as well Paul, Maybe run it past Gus first as I dont know what these services are and accept no responsibility SERVER TIMED OUT ISSUE From the EA forum post by DJUNGLEJARL 1. Press: Windows-button (the one between lAlt and lCtrl) + R, a window should pop up. 2. Write: "services.msc" (without the ") then press enter. 3. In the list of services, scroll down to "UPnP Device Host", click it and press "Stop service". 4. Now do the same thing but with the service "SSDP Discovery". 5. Exit the window and go to control panel-> Network and Internet-> Network and Sharing Centre-> Change advanced sharing settings (to the left)-> Under "network discovery" select to turn off network discovery 6. SAVE CHANGE Fix 2 . I have noticed that repairing the install and restarting origin after every update helps with this problem . The last update EA sent out left me hanging in game for 30 seconds then booted me with the time out error . Closed my browser then repaired the install and restarted origin. IT worked ever since . FIX 3 thx to MaintenanceMan for noticing this . Some routers have UPNP enabled by default . Go to your router setting and disable it . If the above steps have not worked this should work .

Unless you have networked printers/scanners/USB accessed devices on your network you can safely stop those services Paul.

Thanks for the help Squinty and Gus. I'll try that one ASAP. I'd already disabled PnP but that didn't work, but hopefully one of those other fixes might do the trick.

Hi, disabled those services and checke dthe UP&P settings in the router, played for an hour just now and crashed out of 4 out of the 5 games. "Disconnected from Server". No progress banked :-( unlocks wasted... I've deleted the BF3 folder but I don't know if it's worth persevering as it's too frustrating. Feels like a broken game.

Far too good a game to give up this easy Paul..
From what I can gather it seems to be something with your router.
Try these : (just do 1 at a time so you can pinpoint the problem)
Update all your drivers
If you have a wireless router or somesuch, remove it and connect your PC straight to your modem. Seems theres also UPNP ports in a router that may need turned off?? (another one for Gus IT Services)
Switch of active or realtime scanning in any antivirus you have (or switch it off totally), seems most antivirus software doesnt like programmes opening other programs (which BF3 does) understandably.
Switch off your Firewall. (That'll check its not ports)
We'll get there eventually!

Thanks for the help mate. I keep coming back to it because when it's working it's such a good game, but then suddenly it's the gaming equivalent of the rug being pulled out from under me, or a bucket of cold water thrown over my gaming session. I play many multiplayer games and never have the problems that BF3 gives me. I had to fire up TF2 after my last crashes just to reset my head and remind myself what shooty fun can be had.
I guess I'lll keep trying because a squad of us four on voice comms in BF3 is one of the most fun in gaming, but I play with a sense of dread of the upcoming crash to desktop...
