ok, well recently my to paint list seems to have been getting bigger and bigger, so i decided it was time to set up a new thread for them where i can get support (read: kicked up the ass) with painting. heres what i have to paint Imperial Guard: 89 mordians 96 valhallans a fistfull of commisars a couple of tanks (still to be bought) Blood Angels: 1 LAnd Raider Honour Guard Tyranids: 1 Carnifex and im running this army as my tale of x gamers army so it will be increasing on a monthly basis, the army is nidzilla, so lots of big things, the plan is to have it like some sort of space hulk raiding foce, and ill be giving them space hulky bases to match, similar to thisand More: a box of WIP's (some stuff will never get painted from it) including some fire warriors that are a priority Im also very slowly re-painting my empire army so pics from that may pop up. anyway, heres the workspace picture: Heres a picture of some mordians taking a swim in dettol, theyve been in it about 3 days now: and last but not least, heres what i will be working on first, the carnifex: thats it for now, hopefully ill get some support from my fellow members cheers

ok, a couple of episodes of Band of Brothers and one pair of carnifex legs later and we have this: and a pic with arms (and an experiment for posing) im not too sure about the spikes on the legs, i might just make them bleached bone all the way to the tip.

Wow, impressive. I love how the Carniflex is shaping up and I'm looking forward to seeing this army in the flesh.
Re paint stripping - if the Mordians are metal I would recommend Nitromors. It is nasty stuff so be careful with it but it will strip 20 year old paint clean off a metal model in about an hour! It's also easilly available so I'd consider that if you are looking for a good paint stripper.

cheers for the comments guys, hopefully ill be able to get to work on the talons of the fex tonight.
as for the nitromors as paint stripper, ill look into that as i'm planning on striping quite a lot of metal minis in future. i used to use break fluid but there were to many complications with safety and getting rid of the stuff, is that the same with nitromors? as the dettol seems really simple to use.

Dettol rocks, it makes everwhere smell like a hospital too! but its really hard to use as your felt with a googy mass of paint on whatever you scrub the mini with at the end, might start using Nitromors as I have a few metals that need stripped

Nitromors is easilly available from B&Q and other such spots. It is a gloopy paint-stripper that is extremely effective at lifting off even the most ancient of paints from metal models. A few words of advice when using it though :
Dont use it on plastics! You will end up with a slimy grey mess of an ex-model, fit only for the bin. This includes not using plastc tubs. I use aluminium trays left-over from a Chinese take-away. Pour an inch or two of Nitromors into the tray then drop your models in so that they are covered. Leave them but perhaps after half an hour or so give them a wee turnover just to make sure that the gloop is getting into all the crevices. It will be obvious when the paint has lifted Treat the stuff with caution. Use rubber gloves and an old toothbrush to gently brush off the paint. Don't brush too hard as you don't want flying droplets in your eyes. Use water to help remove everything. After that give the models a really good wash in fresh soapy water and a good hot rinse. I've stripped a lot of models with this stuff and it really does work well, however - if Detoll works well then there is perhaps no reason to be messing with nasty stuff like paint-stripper.

Just such a shame after all the time and effort you've but into it my night lords are going to have to butcher it.

im still trying to track down some 'granny grating' for the bases. ive asked in a few places though so hopefully some should turn up soon also, heres an update! first up the carnifex. all but the talons done (bar a few touch ups) still undecided about what colour to do th talons if anyone has any photoshop skills they would be willing to lend it would be much appreciated if they could show me what the carnifex would look like with grey claws and a turquoise colour i know its asking a lot.. heres a pic for that job though: and next up is my inquisitor scale guardsman, ive been trying a few new things on the skin of this guy, ive used blacks greys and blues for the shading round the eyes, red round the (what i think is) scars on the face, and the stubble. so far i think its looking ok. and heres some legs... (still a lot to be done here)
