Sounds good if the animation is anything like the dawn of war intro videos then it should look really cool. I'll definitley get it when it comes out not expecting it to be the greatest film ever but should be fun to watch which is the most important thing for me.

Painting wise not got much to do only a harad king that I've still got to buy. For gaming we've still not had any practice games and most likely won't get any since there isn't really anyone to practice against. Been practicing more for Storm Over Stirling and I've got a bit more to paint for that (two harpies, one cold one knight and a sorceress on a dragon).

"prob best get a lord in there. doombull with brass cleaver, slug skin, toughened hide and the helm, means he will have between 9 and 10 attacks and a 2/3 up save" You are actually kidding, right? Please tell me GW didn't just do that to the Beastmen book...

It was me but it was fine I managed to get another game. Unfortunately I won't be at the club next week and I think I have a game aswell as the AGM arranged for the week after so it'll be a while before we can get the game played.

challanging the uni guys is a great idea--battle of stirling. winner has bragging rights and it will surly interest them to come back for more games. i can see the point in sticking with the main 2, as thats why most people get into the hobby. I'm not so sure they'd be up for it, based on what Mark said when he tried to convince them to come down. The reason they don't is because they don't like 'competitive' gaming and prefer a more role playing style of game where the game is secondary to a story. However it is always worth a try as they can't all have the same opinion and some might want a change now and again.

This message has been moved to Committee Discussion by Big Dog. Just moved this as I felt it's probably better discussed in the committee board.

I know that for the last couple of years there have been categories, for fantasy I think it is hero, monster and unit for 40k it is hq, squad and vehicle there is also a category for lotr and some for under 16's.

There are posters in both local GW's and as Mark said he, Craig and maybe some others have tried to encourage the regulars from both the Stirling store and the uni club to attend with no real success although I think interest has been picking up in the store as there have been a couple of news faces in recent weeks.
I think that free advertising is the best places like library or youth club notice boards would surely not object to putting up a poster or having small leaflets handed in.
I'm not entirely sure on having under 12's as I believe the club is only insured to have 12's and over attend although it might be ok if they are with parents.

I like all of those ideas but the main thing for them all is that they are planned out far enough in advance that we get the attendence even if it is from outside sources. I'm sure there are a few warmachine players for example from further away who would be up for coming to the club to take part if there was not enough members from just within the club to do a mini-tournament. Also just because it is a warmachine or blood bowl or whatever else tournament there is nothing to stop other people like the kids who usually attend from playing their own games.
As for inter club events its something i've always enjoyed is getting the chance to play people from other local clubs. The only real problem with that is that the game most people at clubs like DWARF play is fantasy and it seems to me that most of our regular fantasy players are unable to attend Saturday sessions mainly due to work (even I can only make it in the morning because I work all Saturday afternoon and night).
I do like the idea of trying to get a certain amount of people to sign up before hand to make sure the hall is covered and I don't think even charging £3 for Saturdays is a bad thing if it is required to cover the hall. As it means the only people having to pay extra to cover Saturdays are also getting the benefits. However I'm not sure how flexible the hall is with us booking Saturdays and how long in advance they need to be booked.

As I said to you last night the main reason I have attended the Saturday sessions is to open them rather than play games the major reason for this is that I don't have the time to stay all day due to work. However the one Saturday I was able to stay all day I really enjoyed the 6k game of WFB we played so while it's not a specific idea what I would say is that the most enjoyable thing for me was getting to play something a bit different from what I play on a Thursday night or in GW.

Just out of interest, has the cost of the hall gone up at all in recent years? As far as I can remember the club has always been £3 (£2 for members). Now its a fact of life really that cost of living goes up, and I can't imagine any reasonable person would grudge an extra £1 (or 50p) to keep the club running - especially if the hall costs have ever increased. Something else to look at is how much do other gaming clubs charge? is £3 cheap or expensive comparatively. I've also got a few opinions on the Saturday sessions, but I'll save those for the AGM. As someone who occaisonally attends other clubs I know that at DWARF they only charge £1 and at ELG as a non member it is free if you haven't attended in a certain amount of months not sure on what they charge their members but I don't think it is any more than £2. So £3/£4 is quite expensive in comparison. As far as I'm aware the hall costs haven't gone up but I can't say for sure Gus or Chris would be able to give a definite answer.

Is a CRB check the same as a disclosure check? If so, I have a current one if I can find it. Yep, CRB is the English equivalent. If I remember correctly, the club requires a Disclosure check (the Scottish version) but that is easily sorted through the Gaming Club Network. It is not anything too difficult when I did mine last year all I had to send was my drivers license, a bank statement and my national insurance card and I got them back within a week. Also you get a choice of what to send so you can use things like a passport for example.
