I've not played WHFB in years, or TK ever (though I'm currently trying to decide between TK and VC for a potential army), so take this with a pinch of salt, but...
I'd consider having one block of skeletons (or tomb guard) equipped for close combat, when the enemy reach your lines. Unless you think archers led by a character can hold their own or that a chariot charge will stop the enemy in your tracks.
(It depends how you play I guess - I gather that TK players/lists divide into offensive and defensive and you appear to have gone for the latter build.)

Anyone up for a GW skirmish game?
Can do Necromunda, Mordheim, or Blood Bowl (should anyone want to practice for the upcoming league).
I also have enough Chaos Space Marines to do a small game of 40k, but I don't really know the rules or have the current Codex...

Hi Gus,
If it's not too late (I hope you didn't mean early morning) then please put me down for one with 'Ben' on it.
Not really sure what sizes are available but given what you say go XL to be safe.
Thanks, Ben

I just picked up some old Robogear stuff off eBay, figuring that at the very least the plastic scenery would be useful for Necromunda/40k. (Anyone unfamiliar with it, here's an example of the conversion potential, which also swayed me: www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/355685.page ) Anyway, I had a quick flick through the rules last night and it looks quite simple. I may see if my girlfriend's up for a game after we move next month. (I think she would be in principle, but finds something like 40k too complicated.) Has anyone tried playing Robogear? Is it any good?

I think the new miniatures look good and I'm seriously tempted (partly also because I already have a pile of old GW skeletons and Mantic zombies). Mind you, I wish the plastic cavalry kit had done blood knights.

Likewise. Merry Christmas everyone and hope Santa brings lots of lovely plastic (or resin, metal, etc) crack.

Rolling and adding (for 2, 4, 5, 10, 20, 25 or 50 players) Divide the dice equally between players. Each player rolls all of his/her dice and adds up the total. Highest score wins. Re-roll ties.

Hi Giles, Welcome to Stirling. Hope to meet you soon. Also, most people here don't seem to mind playing against unpainted armies it seems. Ben

Would like to, but with uni restarting in Feb I doubt I'll be able to make it very often.
Probably either Orcs or Lizardmen.

I only ever played one game, having assembled a mercenary band when the above idea was floated, but I'm generally in favour of things like this (Necromunda, Blood Bowl, Gorkamorka). Not sure when I'll next be at the club, but I'd be happy to give you a game or to take part if a campaign gets going.

Looks like some of the Stirling guys who'd had a disappointing day on Saturday managed a late rally on Sunday!

Thanks for the replies. To clarify, I don't propose making a full-size army (at least, not for some time). As much as I admire those who do fully converted armies, I find the numbers required for an Ork horde off-putting enough without the need to make them all out of Lizardmen! Basically, this is just a small modelling project. I don't think WYSIWYG should be much of a problem. Obviously a Saurus isn't an Ork, but I can still equip them with appropriate weaponry. It helps that the weapons options for basic Ork boys and Grots are pretty limited anyway. As for 'Nids, I'm not sure that would be easier. I've certainly read about people doing it (Saurus = Genestealers, Skinks = 'Gaunts), but there are more different unit types in the Tyranid army and I don't see how all of them could be represented. Representing different Orks is much easier, if I'm doing Lizards with guns anyway. I already converted three Saurus warriors into Scalies for Necromunda a while back, so I have some idea what they look like with guns (answer: quite good, though the limited poses would be more notable in a 40k squad). I just tried giving two of my spare Skinks guns and like that look, though I think I need to do something more to them to make them look 40k rather than just Skinks with guns. Not sure what though. Also, in doing a bit of research online, I found Lizardmen have been used for quite surprising armies, including Necrons: www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=282261&highlight=saurusAnd Imperial Guard: s418.photobucket.com/albums/pp266/don_mondo_bucket/1st%20Lustrian%20IG/

Good to know spectators are welcome. I haven't managed to make it to the club since semester started at the uni, but I might try dropping by to have a look.
