I used to play Lizardmen when they first appeared in 5th edition WHFB and the first miniatures I bought on getting back into the hobby around a year ago were Saurus and Skinks to convert into a Blood Bowl team. My girlfriend said the other day, when I was talking about 40k, 'why don't you collect a Lizardman army for 40k?' and at the time I dismissed the idea. But now it's growing on me... I was somewhat inspired by the Lizardmen-marines on Bell of Lost Souls today: www.belloflostsouls.net/2011/10/editorial-its-so-fluffy-im-gonna-die_23.htmlI've also seen Lizardmen used as counts-as Tyranids and converted into Tau, e.g.: www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102793&highlight=lizardmen&page=2www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/225167.pageso I know that using them in 40k isn't a new idea. Nonetheless, it's certainly something I'm feeling tempted by. Personally, I think the most obvious thing to do, rules-wise, is to use them as Orks. Saurus with guns = ork boyz and Skinks = gretchin. No rule problems that way, only the questions of WYSIWYG and 'counts as' armies. I don't know yet where to get the guns from or what to do about vehicles, but I don't really intend to build a full army of 40k Lizardmen anyway: based on Orks it would be rather too large, especially given I might have trouble using it in certain contexts. I'm just tempted to make a small force for the fun of converting it as much as anything. I just wondered, before I go trying to dig out and convert my spare Lizardmen, what others thought. Am I crazy? Or might this work? Any suggestions for conversions also welcome (I'm worried that simply sticking guns in their hands won't be enough).

Call that old? Why is it grey?
Looks like it's in much better condition that mine, but hopefully I can restore/rebuild the one I have.

Option two: Buy it, read the rules and if you don't like it sell it on ebay for at least what you paid for it (but hopefully more!). Good point, but surely it would be worth even more if unopened. Maybe worth buying a few sets as an investment (and perhaps hoping to get a game with someone else, to see whether it's worth opening or selling them)...

Thoughts?
The models look nice, but £70 for a game that looks rather limited seems steep to me. Then again, some may prefer not having to buy an army on top of the box...

Belated thanks for a very useful thread Jamie. I'm trying to strip some of my old plastics now, so I was hoping you could elaborate on the process - in particular, did you dilute the cleaner or just use it neat?
I didn't have any Tesco or Dettol to hand, but used something similar, diluted in water (though fairly strong) but an overnight soak seems to have had no effect. I'll try to get some of the stuff you recommend next time I'm in Tesco and see if that works better.

An old thread but, if it's any use to you, I have an old metal apothecary (with metal back pack) and the Blood Angels special character apothecary (Corbulo?)

Necromunda: Orlock, Cawdor, Scavvy, and Ratskin I think. Maybe a few others. All the original, mostly one-piece, metal figures from when the game was first released. (With some metal Catachans mixed in with the Orlocks.) May have a few spare guns, from the metal gun sprue, too.
I'll have a look for any bare heads Jamie, but I wouldn't get your hopes up: I had a few of those, but most of the figures are the metal body with plastic arms type (2nd edn).

I'm currently back in Essex and have just been digging through the boxes of old 90s miniatures in my mum's loft looking for anything that might still be useful. Most of it isn't (old one-pose plastic figures or lead miniatures now superseded by plastic kits), and most would need paint stripping, but I thought I'd mention it in case anyone has any old bits that they're particularly after for some reason...
40k-wise it's almost entirely space marines (but includes, e.g., metal dreadnought, terminators, scouts, landspeeder, and more), plus I have a few lizardmen, orcs/orks (Gorkamorka), Necromunda figures, some Blood Bowl.
If there's something any of you have been trying to track down for a while then let me know what and I'll see if I have/can find it. But it will have to be in the next couple of days and what I can bring back on the train is rather limited.
I'm happy to give small things away to a good home, but will consider cash or bits swaps for larger things.

I think it's a shame that this poll only allows one choice per person (and doesn't make that clear until it's too late either). I'd certainly be happy with either red-yellow, green-yellow, or yellow-green, but can't express that. I don't suppose that the poll function on here can do multiple choices though. (This is basically what I'd suggest: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Approval_voting )

Nice job on the termies. Is the green tinting on the heads deliberate or just the lighting in the photo? On the one in the second picture I assumed it could be a glow from his force weapon, but that's not so on the other one in the bottom picture.

Very nice. Kinda looks just like you But female. At least, with breasts, though the head looks male to me (maybe just because of the baldness). Nice paint job though.

Not sure we're getting any closer to a consensus so if we place one order do they all have to be the same? And if we have enough interest in alternative colours would it be worth placing two orders? Then we could get more variety.
Either way a poll might be necessary at some point, once the suggestions are in. (I'm still liking yellow and green best, if not the original colours.)

I'd like a few (5-10) if another order's going in, subject to liking the colour choice. Not sure how we'd choose alternatives - or can you order a mix?
I'd like recognizable 'club colours' - which seems to be primarily yellow (going by the shirts) with either red or green details (going here also by the club logo).
Yellow dice with green pips? Or I'd be happy with more of the same.

Yeah, nice figures. Did you buy the scenic bases?

Don't know anything about this. A 5-vs-5 futuristic skirmish game always sounds promising though. (I actually just played a Necromunda shoot out [4 vs 3] with my girlfriend and it was great fun, if only because I massacred her Eschers.)
Have you played it yet?
